For over 700 years, the release of floating lanterns has been part of the rich cultural fabric of Lanna people of northern Thailand. To them, floating lanterns serve as offerings to the Lord Buddha. The offering is believed to bring good luck while the release of lanterns symbolizes the letting go of all that we wish to be freed from.

  This  festival  will  take place  on  the 25  th of  october  2014  before  the  full moon night and Loy Krathong festival..
       It starts  in the evening and  will allow you to savor  the sight of warm smiles and hospitality of northern Lanna people.

Price includes  transportation – guide – gasoline –   a lantern   to join  this  festival  for release lantern into the sky. (  A lantern from outside the  temple is not  allow to bring to the festival.  Only the ones  from the temple )


Note:  ( You may see many Thai people  float their Krathong to  the river as well tonight. )

A  krathong   is a handmade banana leaf cup. Thai people place a candle and incense sticks in their krathongs and then float them on a local river , canal  or pond. As they push away their krathong, they ask for forgiveness in polluting the waterways and also for good luck and happiness in the coming months  and year.

Need to  ware  Long plans  or long  skirts (  dress  must cover  your  knees )

What to bring with you !

 -   A mat   or  a little of  cloth  for a   ground  sitting.
-    Water  and snacks.
      ( You may be hungry  when we are waiting for ceremony, so  we will  stop at the  7- 11 for  you to buy  your food  for  dinner  or  snack  on the way..)
-    Rain jacket  or  umbrella
( just incase it rains on that day )
-    mosquito repellent
